The Leap of Faith (2003)

In 2003, Jason Starks was working out of his father-in-law’s office, learning the intricacies of tax law but feeling a pull toward something more. He envisioned a firm that combined high-level expertise with the personal touch of a family business. With his father as his partner, Jason took the leap and founded J&J Tax and Accounting of OKC.

The early days were a true family hustle. Based out of our original startup office off 27th Street in Moore, we didn’t have a massive marketing budget. Instead, we had something better: family. Jason, Courtney, and their kids would spend evenings walking the neighborhoods, handing out flyers by hand and building the business one handshake at a time.

Growth Through Trust

Word of mouth traveled fast. People didn’t just want someone to crunch numbers; they wanted someone they could trust. As the client list grew, the walls of our first office began to feel a little too close. That growth led us to South OKC for a time, but as the business matured, we felt the pull to return to where it all began.

Today, we are back at our roots in Moore, operating in a space that reflects how far we’ve come while keeping us close to the community that built us.

The Next Generation

A company is only as strong as its people, and at J&J, our “people” are family. In 2020, our son-in-law, Jacob, joined the team. He didn’t just bring energy; he brought a commitment to excellence, earning his Master’s Degree in Accounting and becoming a CPA. In 2024, our daughter-in-law, Kailee, joined the ranks, ensuring that the “J&J” legacy remains a family-owned and operated pillar of the community, now wholly owned by Jason and Courtney.

Modern Solutions, Old-School Values

The world of tax law is a moving target. From navigating the complexities of new federal regulations to adopting the latest secure financial technology, we have evolved to stay ahead of the curve.

We’ve traded the paper flyers for digital systems, but our core mission remains the same as it was in 2003: To help our neighbors navigate the complicated world of taxes so they can focus on what matters most to them.

Putting more money back in your pocket.
